“Lieder Ohne Worte”, new series of abstract works by Ekaterina ARISTOVA, explores the profound emotional power of music as expressed through abstract art. The series is inspired by some of the world’s greatest composers, including Rachmaninov, Bach, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Liszt, Vivaldi, alongside ballet music by composers such as Minkus and Bizet. Aristova’s unique vision merges the world of sound and visual art, creating an immersive experience where emotion and music converge into visual form. 
Aristova’s abstract expressionism is marked by a deeply personal unconscious approach, executed with a distinctive gesture that conveys her emotions without the use of words. Working with closed eyes, she creates powerful works full of freedom and passion through her signature medium of black charcoal, an intimate tool that allows her to tap into the raw energy of her emotions. This unique language evokes a sense of “écriture” (writing), making a reference with Cy Twombly’s “gribouillis” and Anselm Kiefer’s use of words in his paintings, yet Aristova’s “Songs” are literally without words, offering an open invitation for the viewer to interpret the work as an emotional experience and expression of untold, deep feelings.
